In
general, there is not a lot of variety in the makeup and design of
deck awnings. They don’t typically vary a lot in how they are
made, but you can find some variety in understanding with which substance
they were made and how that will affect you.
For example, if you choose canvas deck awnings, you should understand
what the advantages and disadvantages to this are. First, the advantages:
• Flexible – If you need to move the awning in one certain
way or another, this is not a very difficult process. In fact, all
you need to do usually is move things around just a bit to get a whole
new feel.
• Colorful – These awnings can include many different
colors and designs. Because canvas is a fairly easy material to work
with, even having custom designs placed on it should not cost a lot
extra.
But, if you decide on a metal awning, there are different advantages
and disadvantages.
One advantage is:
• Durable – Whereas a material like canvas could get
torn up if it is flapping in a fairly strong wind or may get holes
in it that will let through rain, the same problem does not exist
for metal awnings. They are much more durable and short of a tornado,
nothing should be able to damage them very much.
But a disadvantage is:
• Cost – Obviously, a metal like copper is going to cost
more to work with than canvas would cost. So, before making the deck
awnings purchase, you need to ask yourself how much you’d be
willing to pay for the extra durability.
